PRESS RELEASE
1st quarter 2003 Results
Net current profit rises by
15%
| In the first quarter of 2003, Ter Beke has
confirmed last year's positive results. In comparison with the same quarter
in 2002, turnover has risen by 9% to €48 million; net current profit is up
15% to €1.2 million. We are thus able to confirm the prospects set forward in our press release of 27 February 2003. This positive trend can be attributed to the international growth especially in chilled ready meals but also in processed meats, to cost control and stable raw material prices. As mentioned earlier, we support since February the newly launched "Come a Casa" brand with, inter alia, television campaigns in Belgium and Ireland. The response to these campaigns has been positive and we have noted a strong growth in the sales of chilled pasta based ready meals under the Come a Casa brand. If the current trends are maintained, we expect that the results will be confirmed for the rest of the year. Waarschoot, 8 May 2003 Luc De Bruyckere Chairman |
